#1 Ready Player One

In the plot of this movie, there is a character named OASIS who is the founder of a VR game. After his death, he has challenged every game user to find the Easter Egg. The one who will find it first would be the owner of the Oasis Virtual world and all its wealth. The plot is really creative and every engineer will find it interesting.

#2 Apollo 13

Apollo 13 is one of the best science fiction movies ever produced. The movie is about NASA’s Apollo mission which has sent three astronauts to the moon. The mission to the moon is named Apollo 13. The spacecraft of astronauts have been damaged so NASA has to formulate a plan for the safe return of all three astronauts back to earth. The ‘engineered plan’ scene shouldn’t be missed in the movie.

#3 The Imitation Game

The Imitation Game is about the well-known engineer and mathematician Alan Turing, who is from England. He makes a machine with a team of cryptography experts to decipher the German Nazi’s enigma code. It takes only two years to build that machine. The movie is full of spy thriller and vulnerability the main character has shown. So, don’t miss this movie which is based on the real-life story of Alan Turing.

#4 3 Idiots

This movie is still one of the highest-grossing Bollywood movies ever made. The movie is all about the ups and downs of three engineer friends and their engineering journey. One friend is lost after graduation from the two other friends. So, they both set on a journey to find him. Along the journey, they reconsider and think about their university days when their friend made them understand everything differently. Every engineering student must watch this cool movie.

#5 The Matrix

The Matrix original movie is also considered as one of the greatest action movies. The movie is plotted on a simulation system termed ‘The Matrix‘. Some powerful computers have constructed this system. The Matrix is capable to construct and change the complete reality of humans. So, the main character of the movie starts an underground war against these powerful computers. The main character of the movie named Thomas Anderson is a computer scientist and a programmer. This movie is a must for software and computer engineers!

#6 Interstellar

Interstellar is a 2014 epic science fiction film. In the future, Earth is slowly becoming uninhabitable. Ex-NASA pilot Cooper, along with a team of researchers, is sent on a planet exploration mission to report which planet can sustain life.

#7 Transcendence

Transcendence is all about artificial intelligence where one scientist takes a dangerous road by uploading his mind’s imagination to a computer system. He wants to combine all the intelligent minds of the world on a single machine with real human reactions. Definitely a worth watching movie for engineers.

#8 The Theory of Everything

This movie is based on the biography of one of the most famous scientists Stephan Hawking. Stephen Hawking, an excellent astrophysics student working on his research, learns that he suffers from motor neuron disease and has around two years to live. This movie also depicts how he spent his college years and conducted research on the universe and writing his famous book “A Brief History of Time”. Therefore, this movie is worth watching for both physicists and engineers.

#9 Hidden Figures

Hidden Figures is based on the early days of NASA organization. The story of a team of female African-American mathematicians who served a vital role in NASA during the early years of the U.S. space program.

#10 The Martian

The movie is about a man who has stranded on mars. His companion and researcher teams during their visit to mars have left him alone on the red planet guessing that he is dead after a forceful sand storm. But he is alive on the planet now alone with only a small amount of food supplies left. He works alone on the planet to produce and grow vegetables for him. On earth, the team works hard to rescue him and bring him back to the earth. The plot is very interesting and full of scientific knowledge.

#11 Good Will Hunting

Good Will Hunting is about a person who has joined a prestigious institute MIT to work as a steward. But when he solves complex math problems, one of the professors at MIT notices this young man and helps him reach the heights of his potential. Will Hunting, a genius in mathematics, solves all the difficult mathematical problems. When he faces an emotional crisis, he takes help from psychiatrist Dr Sean Maguireto, who helps him recover.

#12 The Man Who Knew Infinity

The Man Who Knew Infinity movie is about a self-taught mathematical genius Srinivasa Ramanujan from India. He sees many ups and down to reach his goals. He gets dropped out of university, but with the help of one of the professors with whom he becomes a good friend he again joins Trinity college. His academic life with the professor has been beautifully portrayed.
