What is the Kankor Exam?

The Kankor is the Afghanistan Ministry of Higher Education’s entrance exam, which is required for almost all public university admittance in Afghanistan.

Over 100,000 high school students take this exam each year and the results are used to determine which students are capable of undertaking graduate courses.

The Kankor Exam has been designed as an intense examination that has 160 multiple-choice questions, (each scoring 2-2.25 points) with a maximum number of possible points being 360.

More important than that, though, are the university admissions scores your field requires. Getting into a field such as medicine, engineering, or computer science can therefore be very challenging!

To do well, it’s important to have studied all subjects taught during grades 10 through 12 which may include Mathematics, Natural Science (including Physics), Social Sciences (such as History), and Languages such as English or French.

Participants can choose five favorite fields within their subjects and these all require certain amounts of score according to if it’s your desired major or minor subject area.

Kankor – COVID-19 impacts

Following the COVOD-19 pandemic, over half of the students across the world have been affected by school closures and disruptions to their lessons.

In Afghanistan schools only re-opened in October 2020 during the first wave of the pandemic and they closed again in December for winter holidays until March 2021. Therefore many students have had little or no preparation for the exam due to lapses in studies caused by COVID-19.

As a result of the pandemic, this year’s number of candidates for government-run faculties is expected to be less when compared to previous years. Though education authorities assure every candidate has an equal chance of success.

When are the Kankor 2021 Results Due?

According to NEXA, the results were due be announced between Aug 25th -30th 2021. However, we anticipate that you should be able to download the Kankor Excel Database file shortly.
